Bisnis, JAKARTA — The global call for boycotting pro-Israel products has impacted several international brands. Despite no actual figures of losses have been released yet, the boycott’s impact following Israel's aggression in Gaza cannot be underestimated.
Tensions in the Middle East escalated after Hamas militants attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in the death of 1,200 people. Subsequently, Israel has continued its military aggression in the Gaza Strip, leading to the deaths of over 13,000 Palestinians.
The transportation sector is among those most affected by this tension. Travel analysis company ForwardKeys reported a global decline in international flights since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict, particularly in the US, as people cancel their trips to the Middle East and worldwide.
Olivier Ponti, vice president for insights at ForwardKeys, said the war in the Middle East undoubtedly discourages travel to the region. Additionally, the conflict needs to improve consumer confidence in traveling elsewhere. “This war is a catastrophic, heartbreaking, human tragedy that we are all seeing daily on our TV screens,” as quoted from Bisnis.com on Monday (11/20/2023).
