Indonesia's 'Never Back Down' Initiative Gathers JETP Funds

Bisnis, JAKARTA — There hasn't been significant progress regarding the funding commitment from the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) to finance Indonesia's energy transition. The government continues to work on fulfilling the promises made within the partnership, which is led by the United States and Japan.

Additionally, Indonesia, along with the State Electricity Company (PLN), has met certain requests from donor countries, including the creation of a roadmap for the early retirement of coal-fired power plants (PLTU).

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) has established a Secretariat for the JETP energy transition funding agreement, serving as a key component for implementing the JETP program outlined in the joint statement from the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022.

Indonesia has also prepared various programs to accelerate the energy transition, including plans to shut down several PLTUs through this funding.
