Bisnis, JAKARTA—PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk. (ITMG) is actively refining its strategy to drive business diversification beyond coal mining. The company is implementing various strategies to align with the goals set by its parent company, Banpu Public Company Ltd., which aims to achieve a balanced proportion of green and coal businesses, targeting 50% each by 2025.
Chief Executive Officer of Banpu Somruedee Somphong noted that PT Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITMG) is currently primarily focused on the coal business, as reflected in ITMG's income.
“However, when measured using enterprise value for the entire Banpu Group, the proportion of the group's green business stands at 50%. Somruedee acknowledged that achieving this target might be challenging as the majority of the company's assets are coal-related.
Somruedee (Khun Som) acknowledges that reducing the proportion of coal to zero in her company's business would be impractical and detrimental.
